Volume One: We'll reclaim your heartbeat!

Chapter 4 - Incomprehensible Behavior

Perhaps this is also one aspect that sets monsters apart from humans—while they may have considerable power, their intelligence is clearly lacking. Well, it would be more accurate to say their minds aren't as sharp.

Keeping this in mind, Ash turned his head back as he heard two more voices from behind. It was Rosetta and Sword, two girls wearing Precure battle attire, running towards him and Mana.

"Rosetta! Sword!" Mana exclaimed excitedly upon seeing her comrades arrive.

"Sorry we're late. Lance said there were Jikochū here, so we hurried over... Oh, who's that?"

"That dark-masked person, what is he? A new Jikochū?" .

"No, he clearly looks different from the Jikochū,"

"I don't sense any Jikochū energy from him, Lance,"

Cure Rosetta, radiating a warm aura, and Cure Sword, exuding a formidable presence, quickly noticed Ash, who was engaged in battle with the Jikochū.

"He's such an annoying pervert!"

Thinking back to Ash's earlier words, Rikka's favorable impression of him plummeted to dislike, and she cursed at him, categorizing him right away.

"Rikka, he saved Aii-chan, even though Ash-san is a bit strange, we shouldn't say things like that. As for his appearance, it seems like..."

Lost in thought, Ai tapped her right fist against her left palm, and a light bulb representing inspiration appeared above her head.

"I remember now!"

"He's a Kamen Rider, the one from the Tokusatsu series that airs on Asahi TV every Sunday morning at 9 o'clock!"

Ai suddenly became excited. The belt, the phrase "Henshin!"—she had secretly imitated the Kamen Rider's transformation poses countless times at home, so she couldn't be wrong!

With Ai's revelation, the scene fell silent. Rosetta strolled over to Ai and leaned in closer, pressing their foreheads together.

"Ai, you're clearly not running a fever, are you?"

"Wait, I'm serious!"

"Heart, are you in your right mind?" Sword's expression turned serious. "How could a character from a TV show appear in the real world?"

"But you, Makoto-chan, came out of the Trump Kingdom, didn't you?"

"That's different from your situation!"

"Aren't the Jikochū your enemies?" Ash's voice, neither too loud nor too soft, interrupted the girls' discussion. "How long do you plan on chatting, or do you just intend to watch until it's over?"

"I'm sorry, really sorry! We accidentally forgot!" Ai quickly bowed repeatedly to apologize to Ash, then called her companions to focus on the enemy.

The outcome of the four-to-one situation was predictable. With Ai's purifying attack, "My Sweet Heart," the Jikochū was purified, and the battle quickly came to an end.

On Ash's side, with the power of Ryuga and his own strength, he easily suppressed the Jikochū that was unable to use its signature move due to his tactics. It was as if an experienced hunter with complete equipment was facing a wolf with its fangs and claws removed. Ash effortlessly subdued the enemy.

"Darn it, I lost again! That infuriating masked person!"

The situation had already reached a critical point, and after cursing Ash, who had disrupted everything, Ira instantly moved away from this sorrowful place.

"We've won this time too, Ash-san!" Precure, feeling happy about her victory, looked towards Ash's direction and witnessed an astonishing scene she had not expected.

Under Ash's relentless attack, the other Jikochū had long lost its ability to resist. Despite being in tatters, Ash had no intention of letting it go. Punch after punch and kick after kick, he treated the pitiful, tearful Jikochū as if it were a soccer ball, relentlessly beating it over and over again.

Simultaneously, wisps of dark energy accompanied each strike, emanating from the Jikochū and being silently absorbed by Ash.

"Wait, what is he doing?!" This scene was reminiscent of Ryuga mercilessly tormenting a weaker Jikochū with his own power, completely reversing the positions of justice and evil. Rikka was stunned by this sight.

"Could it be that his inability to purify Jikochū stems from their battles?!" Sword's expression turned equally grim as he voiced his speculation.

"Ash-san, please stop!" A worried Ai shouted loudly towards Ash. "Jikochū are actually manifestations of corrupted Psyche, originating from the hearts and minds of people. Your actions will damage the spiritual hearts!"

Upon hearing these words, Ash, who was lifting the Jikochū from the ground, stopped his movements.

"Oh, so this monster is actually a result of someone's Psyche transformation?" This was different from the various monsters he knew. How marvelous! He had only heard about despair giving rise to phantoms from one's heart, but he never expected creatures like this.

Humans are truly amazing.

"That's right! If the Psyche are not purified and are directly destroyed, the person will lose their own heart, leading to irreversible consequences! So, Ash-san, please leave this to us--"

Ai wanted to purify the Jikochū, allowing the original Psyche to quickly return to its owner's body. This innocent idea was undoubtedly the best solution, but Ash had a different intention.

Without waiting for Ai to finish, Ash mercilessly punched the Jikochū, which could no longer utter even a cry of pain.

"Why?!" Precure once again exclaimed in shock at this violent act.

She had already explained everything, so why did it continue?

"That's why I don't care about other people's Psyche," Ash looked at Precure, who was completely bewildered, and tilted his head.

"It's not mine that's being destroyed, so what does it have to do with me? If you're afraid of being destroyed, then don't even look."

"Why don't you hold onto your own Psyche from the beginning?"

"This guy took the initiative to attack me, so I can't let him off without a memorable lesson."

Ash glanced down at the wisps of dark energy flowing into his body, barely nodding.

Besides, I can gain more "Dark Echoes." Why not?

Upon hearing Ash's words, Precure fell into a momentary silence, followed by an even greater outburst of anger in response.

"You, you're being completely unreasonable!" Rosetta and Rikka protested loudly, while Sword glared at Ash in anger for his almost absurd reasoning. However, Ai's actual reaction was faster than theirs.

"Stop it!" Ai rushed towards Ash and stood between him and the Jikochū. Seeing the approaching sight, the fist that was about to land on her face, Ai instinctively closed her eyes!

"Ai!" Unexpectedly, Ai shielded the enemy with her own body, prompting another exclamation from the Precure.

A gust of wind blew across Ai's face, scattering her golden hair that had been caught up. The anticipated attack did not land on her.

Trembling, Ai opened her eyes, and just inches away was Ryuga's clenched fist, stopped right above her nose.

Looking at Ai, who was fearful yet resolute, standing in front of him, Ash removed the card holder from his waist and deactivated his transformation. He turned around and walked away in the opposite direction.

Seeing Ash leave, Ai, who had survived a disaster, took deep breaths of fresh air. The overwhelming sense of contrast washed over her, instantly relieving the tension in her body, and she collapsed to her knees on the ground.

"Ai, are you okay?"

The others quickly crossed over Ash and gathered around Ai, hurriedly supporting her trembling legs. Witnessing their friend's ordeal, the Precure began angrily reproaching Ash.

"What kind of person are you?"

Ignoring them, Ash took out a small book from his pocket, opened it, and threw it into the air.

[Diaggo Speedy]

In a completely unscientific manner, the small book transformed into a motorcycle with a red sword-shaped head attached to the front.

"Why would you do something like this?"

He didn't say a word. Flipping onto the bike, kicking off the stand, and revving the engine with a roar like a dragon, Ash left the Precure behind, leaving only a gradually fading silhouette.

"Why... Ash-san?"
