Chapter 147: Spike: Red Archer Is Made of Bones?!"
Red Archer decisively began chanting his Noble Phantasm while projecting two black and white short swords, ready to defend against any potential attacks from Tom during the incantation.
At this point, Red Archer had mentally prepared himself to be killed by Tom even before he could complete the chant. The reason was simple: his Noble Phantasm's incantation was ridiculously long.
While most others would have already fully charged their Noble Phantasms several times over, Red Archer's incantation was still far from complete. If he were to use his Noble Phantasm simultaneously with an enemy, they would undoubtedly have ample time to laugh at him.
"I am the bone of my sword.
Steel is my body, and fire is my blood."
...Chanting continued, and details were omitted...
Listening to Red Archer mumbling in English, Tom found it strangely familiar, reminiscent of a moment from his past. The words sounded a bit odd, with Red Archer claiming to be bone at one moment and steel at another, which left Tom somewhat baffled.
While Tom struggled to understand what Red Archer was saying, Spike, who was beneath Tom, became incredibly excited. It had clearly heard Red Archer say he was a bone, which thrilled Spike to the core. Spike decided it was the perfect opportunity to lick Red Archer!
Seeing Spike's unusual behavior, Red Archer couldn't help but feel that something was off. Spike was salivating profusely, and his excitement seemed directed at Red Archer as though the dog was in heat.
At this point, Spike's mouth had turned into a fountain, continually dripping saliva onto the rooftop. The amount of drool was so significant that it created a small pool. If Spike continued this way, the entire rooftop might soon become a swimming pool.
Red Archer couldn't help but notice Spike's abnormal behavior, and for some reason, he felt like the dog was fixated on him in an odd way, almost as if he was the object of Spike's affection.
As Red Archer chanted his Noble Phantasm, he secretly felt relieved, not because of the strange behavior of the cat and the dog, but rather because they didn't interrupt his incantation. Initially, Red Archer underestimated the strength of Schrödinger and his pets, but after getting beaten up by Tom, he quickly discarded such thoughts. He didn't want to think of Tom and Spike as legendary beings, or he'd end up looking like an innocent fool.
Seeing the opportune moment with the distracted cat and dog, Red Archer seized the chance.
"So as I pray, Unlimited Blade Works. !"
After what felt like an eternity of chanting, Red Archer finally completed his Noble Phantasm. As he finished the last syllable, a blue light expanded rapidly from his body, spreading in all directions at an incredible speed, resembling the detonation of a small nuclear bomb.
Not only Tom and Spike but also Bai Song, who was spectating on the side, got caught in the expanding light. Bai Song ended up with a face full of white light.
"Who's throwing flashes around?!"
After a deafening sound, the blue light morphed into white and quickly dissipated, leaving everything unchanged as if nothing had happened. However, the entire world had undergone a drastic transformation. The rooftop was now an endless wasteland, with countless swords of various shapes and sizes sticking out from every corner.
All these swords were Red Archer's pirated versions, with not a single authentic Noble Phantasm among them. Red Archer took pride in being a Faker!
Buzzing sounds filled the air as several colossal gears descended from the clouds, becoming the background of this world.
Tom and Spike, standing at the forefront, were terrified, witnessing this surreal transformation. Just moments ago, they were listening to a man speaking English, which they couldn't understand at all. And now, they felt like they had been transported to another world.
Tom nervously placed his right hand over his mouth, his mouth trembling so much that he bit his nails into tiny shreds, completely shocked by the sudden turn of events. He had never heard of anyone whisking others away to another world before!
In this strange realm, both Tom and Spike were like cats who had seen ghosts.
If it weren't for his master standing not far behind him and Spike, the all-powerful dog who could single-handedly take on the world, Tom would have run away thousands of miles by now.
"I unilaterally declare... the battle is over." Red Archer looked at Tom and Spike's terrified expressions and couldn't help but smile. Seeing them so scared put his mind at ease.
The dark cloud of fear from Tom's near-death experience with Red Archer's staff vanished instantly. At this moment, his heart was filled with pure and unwavering confidence.
Red Archer confidently raised his right hand before the puzzled eyes of Tom and Spike. Suddenly, a dozen swords of various shapes emerged from the ground and rose about four to five meters high. Then, the swords shifted their positions, now pointing directly at Tom.
"Gulp." As Tom saw the swords aiming at him, he swallowed hard. His blue fur even began to turn white from fright.
It wasn't just because the swords were pointing at him; it was the eerie feeling that sent shivers down Tom's spine. Normal swords couldn't possibly fly, which left only one possibility – these swords were possessed by ghosts!
Although Tom was just an adorable cat, he still had some understanding of physics. It was evident that swords shouldn't be able to levitate in mid-air.
Faced with this eerie sight, Tom couldn't help but cling to a glimmer of hope – what if he happened to be in the path of the swords unintentionally?
Red Archer chuckled at Tom's feeble hope. "Do you really think you can escape this time? Your luck has run out."
With a mere thought, Red Archer manipulated the floating swords, making them converge on Tom's position, leaving him with no room to escape. The floating blades circled around Tom, forming a threatening and ominous barrier.
Tom's heart pounded in his chest, and he felt trapped and cornered. There was no way out – he was at the mercy of Red Archer's sinister display of power. And to make matters worse, Spike, who was witnessing all this, had yet to realize the full extent of the danger they were in.
With the swords closing in, Red Archer's victory seemed imminent. He was ready to end this battle and make sure Tom and his master wouldn't pose a threat again.
In this twisted version of reality, the fate of Tom and Spike hung in the balance.
